A few examples of how Deterra is being utilized to help our communities:

  • Handing out post-operatively with opioid prescriptions or at drug/alcohol treatment centers/groups (AA), or at school events such as D.A.R.E., orientation, fairs, and sporting events

  • Organizations have created “Comfort Kits” for hospice/palliative care patients and their families

  • Handing out at health/wellness fairs, state/county fairs, senior centers, nursing homes, at opioid awareness events/training or partnering with local food shelves, funeral homes, realtors, fire, EMS, police, daycare, veterinarians, Meals on Wheels, and faith-based organizations.

YOUTH BASED PREVENTION PROGRAMS

  • Adolescents are exposed to their first narcotic from either a tooth extraction or sports injury- partner with schools and dentist offices to turn education into action

  • Educating parents on proper medication disposal, encouraging them to clean out their medicine cabinet- reducing access to pills for the purpose of “skittle” or “Pharm” parties.

  • Working with school districts- properly disposing of left-over medication at the end of the school year eliminates opportunities for diversion

  • Deterra deactivates vape fluid, opioids, fentanyl, and street drugs- Deterra provides a teachable moment regarding the dangers of fentanyl. Fentanyl test strips and Deterra go hand in hand!

  • Destroy drugs not the environment- environmental messaging inspires adolescents to share environmentally friendly drug disposal practices with their parents/community
