About Us

West Central Alabama Area Health Education Center received a grant to implement a Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) in fifteen southwest Alabama rural counties. The RCORP has been deemed the Southwest Alabama Opioid Response(SAOR) Project, which is a multi-year initiative supported through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy.

What We Do

Our goal is to reduce the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorder (SUD), specifically opioid use disorder (OUD) in high risk rural communities through community education, capacity building, and multi-sector collaborations.

RCORP IV: Coffee, Henry, Greene and Perry

Southwest Alabama Healthcare Collaborative

Our consortium implements a multi-sector coordinated approach to increase community capacity for prevention, treatment, and recovery support. We have a targeted focus on those at risk and diagnosed with substance use disorder(SUD).

The Southwest Alabama Opioid Response Project is an initiative of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program, supported through HRSA’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. and aims to reduce the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD) in the rural Alabama communities of Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Covington, Dallas, Escambia, Greene, Henry, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter and Wilcox Counties.
